Most people have been conditioned their entire lives to go to
school, get a degree, get a job, and then do the whole 9 to 5 thing for 30-40
years. That plan pre-supposes that you are selling your time, the most valuable
and precious thing you have.
To deliver more value and use more leverage, you need to sell
products. When you sell your time (which is limited), your earnings are
limited. When you sell products, you are no longer exchanging time for money. Your
earning potential becomes uncapped.
The primary concern of the poor is survival and security
instead of creating wealth and abundance. The goal of truly rich people is to
have massive wealth and abundance. Not just some money, but lots of money. On
the other hand, the poor desire to have enough to pay the bills and on pay them
on time would be a miracle. Again, let
me remind you that when your intention is to have enough to pay the bills,
that’s exactly how much you’ll get—just enough to pay the bills and not a dime
more.
Middle-class people at least go a step further, too bad it’s
a tiny step. Their big goal in life also happens to be their favorite word in
the whole wide world. They just want to be “comfortable.” I hate to break the
news to you, but there’s a huge difference between being comfortable and being
rich. It boils down to this; if your goal is to be comfortable, chances are
you’ll never get rich. But if your goal is to be rich, chances are you’ll end up
mighty comfortable.
“If you shoot for the stars, you’ll at least hit the moon.”
Poor people don’t even shoot for the ceiling in their house, and then they
wonder why they’re not successful. Well, they just found out. You get what you
truly intend to get. If you want to get rich, your goal has to be rich. Not to
have enough to pay the bills and not
just to have enough to be comfortable. Rich means rich!
One of the greatest forms of modern day slavery is the ‘pay
check’. Billions of people all over the world are enslaved by this one master.
People lose themselves simply to get by. They weigh the cost of pursuing their
dreams to the comfort of their monthly pay and decide to settle in familiar
grounds. There is only one way to know what lies beyond the horizon and that is
going beyond the horizon itself!
There is freedom beyond selling your time that no amount of
money can buy. Anyone that has tasted this freedom will vow never to bow to the
slavery of a pay check. Your dreams are not going to come to pass while you are
busy chasing after another man’s dream. It is not wrong to start out in formal
employment, it is wrong to bury your dreams because of the fear of the unknown.
All the rich/ wealthy people around us are selling products not time. If you
want to become wealthy, start selling products and not your time.
