    Starting Strong #1 Develop Patterns

There is general excitement at the start of each year about setting resolutions. It's also sad to note that many resolutions set never make it past the second month of the year. A lot of people get caught up in the hype of wishing for progress and new milestones in the new year without any real commitment to walking the talk.

The key to achieving any sustainable success is commitment to work through the process of success until it's achieved. When most people set resolutions, it's more of a wish list for what they desire to accomplish in the new year. If wishes were horse's, even beggars would ride said the English man. Think about it for a moment, how many of your set resolutions have you accomplished over the years? If you're like me, I can only tick off a few.

I realised that the key to getting things done is not wishing but rather commitment and determination to accomplish. Success is systemic and is aligned to systems and patterns, without which it becomes hard to meet set goals.

If you're determined to make 2017 your year of accomplishment then purpose to develop patterns and rhythms for working through your goals. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. By taking sizable steps and actions towards your goal daily, you are abound to accomplish them before the end of the year. Your daily successes is what culminates into your annual success and so on. Make a habit of making each day count.

The same way you plan and budget for your finances, is the same way you should plan and budget your time. Have a schedule for doing things and you will redeem your days. I heard someone say, how can you number your days if you can't number your minutes and hours. Quite an interesting perspective yet so true.

Whatever you have set out to accomplish this year, develop a daily and weekly pattern within which you will continually work through so as to generate momentum, tenacity and accountability.
